  • 1MahaRERA flagged 8,212 projects for missing the January–March 2026 quarterly progress report (Outlook Money).
  • 2The consequences named: a ₹50,000 fine, frozen escrow accounts, possible suspension.
  • 3The report mostly gathers things a developer already has: site photos, engineer's notes, collections.

In 2026 Maharashtra's real-estate regulator flagged 8,212 projects for missing the quarterly progress report due for January to March, as reported by Outlook Money. The consequences named were a ₹50,000 fine, frozen escrow accounts, and a warning that registrations could be suspended or cancelled.

Nobody misses that deadline because the information doesn't exist. The site engineer has photos on a phone. The progress is in someone's notes. The collections are in the accounts system. The report misses its date because collecting all of it, every quarter, is nobody's main job.

That's the shape of work applied AI is good at: a fixed deadline, a known list of inputs, a form with a right answer, and a person who signs it at the end. The agent does the collecting and the drafting. The engineer and the architect still certify. The filing goes out a week early instead of a week late.
